Avatar 2 Concept Art

Post by Atokirina »

Let's take a deep dive and discuss all the details we can find in this gorgeous concept art for the sequel(s)! :fantasy:

Starting with...
Picture 1
Fpi Eywa! Those are some big damn mangrove trees!! Aren't the waters around mangroves on Earth teeming with life? I can only imagine the eco systems around their Pandoran equivalents...

And the big question: Are those Jake & Neytiri? I think they might be, but it's hard to say for sure from the back...

Now tell me about a place I'd like to spend an extended vacation... the water looks beautiful, as does the whole place. Of course you never know if there ain't poisonous fish or clams in there, but still: just beautiful.

And I'm sure those are Jake and Neytiri. It's in the body posture, the hair and Ney's bow, I'd say.

I think we can be 100% sure that there will definitely be deadly critters in those waters! This is Pandora after all!! But I'm also sure the Na'vi know how to spot them. Jake though... I'm not so sure about him!
I just noticed the beaded bracelet on his left upper arm, so I agree that these are Jake & Neytiri. (Now stop looking at his ass!) :hee:
I also noticed his queue is missing. Oversight from the artist, or did he have a little accident?
The little islands seem to be laid out in a perfect circular pattern. Eywa and her magnetic forces must have been at work here.

Oh and picture replaced with one without a watermark. :heeyy:

Artistic fail I'd say. No Na'vi or Avatar or Na'vi'd Avatar would be able to function without a queue.

I've actually been staring at his hair - it's longer than Neytiri's on that pic. And to remember those shaggy strands he started with...

I actually think that those two are in the same boat (no pun intended) when it comes to dangerous critters. Ney sure will notice any dangerous being from two lightyears away in her familiar forest - but this is gonna be new territory for her as well and I'm sure Eywa's creativity will come up with critters she also hasn't seen before.
Plus - Jake did come some way from the bumbling toddler running into a Palulukan or a pack of Nantang.

I wonder if Na'vi, when they visit a new territory, go around with one of the locals as a guide until they're more familiar with the local flora and fauna, or if they simply connect to one of the sacred trees and download the data. Grace says it's possible...

I agree that he does have an impressive amount of hair. No need to bulk it up with feathers and other ornaments anymore either!!

New pics! :D
The Crab-suit
A human driven multifunction submersible. One of the many new RDA vehicles that will be seen in the Avatar sequels.
Ok, that's pretty cool. Looks like it can walk uneven surfaces, and the legs can completely fold in for swimming. It's so much more streamlined than the clunky AMP-suits, I love it. And that's saying something because I've never been a fan of anything RDA.
I wonder if it's a 1-person apparatus like the AMP-suit, or if it seats more than one.

Jon Landau released another piece of concept art, and it is stunning. :fantasy:
It is the Metkayina village, who must be amazing weavers, judging by the fact that they live in huts/tents between the roots of the gigantic mangrove trees of Pandora. The huts are interconnected with each other, and there are bridges to other parts of the village. I see canvasses to close the door openings. And some parts of the walls that are made out of... fish scales? Can't wait to find out more about this tribe!

You have to have a queue to plug into Eywa's global network. I don't think she's upgraded to wireless yet. :idiotic:
