Z-Dog has a bird or something similar tattoed on her left hand.
Wainfleets "recom-kinfe" - looks like a machete.
Spider is the taking care of Lo'aks Ikran (removing the saddle) after the warband returns from the maglev attack.
The lodgings the family gets when first arriving at Awa_atlu is obviously not just empty but used as a kind of untidy hsack - there's what looks like dry seaweed strewn over the floor, broken baskets and other baskets filled with what looks like unsued materials and ripped nets all around ... no wonder Neytiri was less than thrilled, let's say.
I think in above shot Lo'ak is nut hugging his brother - he is closing Neteyams eyes. They still had been wide open before adn are no longer the next time we catch a glimpse.
Which makes you realise how the first and second act mirror each other here: Neteyam killing someone for the first time - Lo'ak killing someone for the first time; Neyteyam disobeying direct orders and as such saving his mother from certain death - Lo'ak disobeying direct orders and as such saving his father from certain death.
Someone said: Oh no... I hope the rest of the story goes better for Lo'ak than it did for Neteyam
I wrote:
We also had that 'mirror': the train attack - Lo'ak goes in for no good reason and a danger ensues as the situation suddenly changes - injuring both but making it out to look Neteyam got killed here - Lo'ak going in to save Spider for the right reasons, danger ensues, the situation changes suddenly and Neteyam is killed for real this time.
At the first eclipse - the first pivotal point of the story - when the children are captured .... Wainfleet got the data out of the camera syste mof the AMV and Q is watching Quaritches death - at the same time Spider is cowering nearby (he had been put there) - also listening and watching in, his face half in shadow half in sunlight, looking rather - confused.
This tells us that in this moment all the times he was not being accpeted, he had been being antagonized or even openly threatened throughout his life come to the surface and culminate in a strong feeling of not belonging - being insecure, unsure, swaying on the thin edge between two worlds, two views on reality, two systems, two options
The sun sets on all of them as the log ends and he is bathed in darkness - the inner rift visbile.
He does not know how to think and feel about the situation or himself or himself in the situation anymore. It already had been a struggle before, now it breaks loose.
The next time Spider is narratively seen at an eclipse this comes full circle - he is now standing in bright sublight - the uncertainty is gone. The pain and struggle may remain - at least for a while, at least to some degree - btu his resolve is steadfast now.
His feet will be at the same grounds as his heart - he will go home and he will stay there.
A leap of faith and instictive trust. Wordless understanding. And then just like that, the weights are falling away from minds and hearts, the inner turmoil fades, the storm in the heart ebbs away. Peace sets in. The balance that seemed to hard to keep is understood to never have been gone - you are carried by everything that surrounds you like being weightless in water.
And from here a deeper form of happiness and certainty with every breath and every heartbeat. A liberation.
Letting all of this roll and wash over you like long steady waves - it makes you smile why getting teary-eyed from the revelation of freedom.
Spider taking care for Lo'aks Ikran (removing the harness) after the warband returns to the cave. Ikran is cool, Spide rknows exactly what to do - this is not the first time he is doing this.
Kiri mixing up some medicine in a small wooden bowl with some sort of things wooden 'pick' and testing the mixture before handing it to Tuk while saying "Here give him this to drink." referring to Neteyam. She's sittign in the foreground while Neteyams wounds are treated.
I wonder what she mixed up (like ly somethign for the pain and also anti-inflammatory). Also already very knowledgeable and self-assured in her capabilities here.
Norm (in Avatar form) built up quite some msucle (seen when the kids cut through the shack on their way to the habitat, when he's brushing his teet hand trash talking Spider for a second). he als onwp wears not only more jewelry but als oa N'vi knife in a belt across the chest just like Jake does (seen when they talk to each other on the porch while Ronal is treatign Kiri in the background). Also: cut off cargo pants for ease of movement and better comfort in hot weather conditions.
Neteyam standing half hidden behind the soorframe when Ronal steps in. On the left side of the door. He's shortsly peeking his head around ot catch a glimpse of what is going on. 100 points for great sibling dynamics.
Payakan actually using his tail to throw one of the speedboats on deck of the Seadragon and causing the first significant explosion.
Spider has a 200 IQ.
I had been wondering before why we see hoe the Seadragon is 'operated'. The shot focuses on the gear/speed levers of the ship. The first time shortly after we step foot on the ship -to show us they depart and also that the Seadragon has a flying mode. The second time durign the first hunt with Spider looking on in the background.
What this tells us: When pushed all the way forward it's max speed. If at max speed the stabilising 'fins' on the sides of the ship are pulled up 'pilot'.
I watched it 6 times and did not catch this in detail.
Spider did: when her knocked the pilot out and pushed all levers to max speed position he deliberately leaves out the small 'fin' lever, so the ship stays grounded and will inevitably hit the rocks, thusly causign massive damage.
