A real pain in the "TXIM".

Driving in California.

First off, I drive a truck, and the other motorists are like:

Image

To all truckers.

Second, they have the worst traffic jams in the history of clogs. And Super Strength industrial ultra Mr. Plumber wouldn't make a fizz. Been driving around the LA area on Sunday, yesterday was the San Francisco area and today was more San Francisco area along with Sacramento area. And tomorrow will be more LA area.

Sometimes I feel like:

:omg: Oh mann ey.

Sometimes I wonder why people still do that to themselves there instead of at least trying to think about other possibilities. That's what happens when people misunderstand 'infrastructure' for 'a lot of streets'. If I think more about it I would even say that infrastructure means 'as little streets as possible' really. What a ridiculous way to destroy your environmemt and ruin your life.

Well, even if you start putting the majority of freight on railroads (apart from the fact that railroads are depressingly neglected and would need a lot of maintenance and branching out) there's still the "last mile", like from the station to the final destination... so freight traffic is always gonna be necessary. Without trucks the stores would look rather empty.

We need different solutions for the individual traffic (and I'm saying that as someone who's kinda hooked on her own car and the independence it gives me).

@Bogo: Good luck with that - may the number of idiots be at least not larger than usual :oh:

This is what I meant - especially 'individual transport' needs to be re-thought from scratch.

Yeah... just to come up with a brilliant idea here. Public transport the way it is today ain't exactly a solution. Too inflexible, smelly, full and unsafe for my taste.

And don't forget expensive.

Well one of the easiest 'solutions' would be real infrastructure aka short ways from one point ot hte next. Meaning that you won't need to take hte car to get to the grocery store, the hairdresser, the doctor, the dentist nad so on from home. Even your work should be better at least in acceptable cycling distance.
My grandpa told me that his father always used to state how important it is to be able to get everywhere important on foot within 15 minutes (which is why he picked the house they're still living in). And back in the days all of the above actually was in a 10 minute radius around the house. And about 15 minuted to the city. (meaning more 'points of interest' one might want ot get to)
Those settlements on the edges of the cities wiht nothing but small houses with tiny gardens and practically nothing else are simply stupid.
Up here the process already started where people simply get too old (or one partner dies) to hold the house and/or don't want or can't drive all those ways anymore nad try to sell it and then there's no one who want to buy such a house. In 20 years or so we will see a massive number of these thingies just standing there abandoned and rotting. What an unnecessary mess.

Gngngngngngn.... so there was that project I got "on short notice and very urgent" on my desk today... I just spent my whole morning with fixing the *beep* stuff. And NOW, right the moment I'm done with it, I get a mail that it's not necessary anymore cause the team decided to solve the problem in another way.

Gngngngngn :waiting: :waiting: :waiting:

Well - that sucks :gotcha:

I still got more work on my heels than I really want (plus I really have to take on this paper and I simply got this great blockade in my head ... it annoys me).

MMO-rant

Playing Guild Wars 2 my Norn huntress is now at level 80 (levelcap) for quite a while now and although I spent hours and hours trying to accumulate enough materials and money to be able to craft armor and weapons fitting to get on to the last quest I failed. I think my armor is good enoug hhow it is though.
So I decided to get on to the last story quest (kill the dragon) and finish the story - but as wiht other dungeon I tried I failed completely. I die, die, then die and then I die a little more wihtout even getting 10m forward. It's ridiculous.
So totally frustrated (again) I tried to get an idea how others manges it ... and - taadaadaadaa - they had to do it in a group. First off: when you HVAE to do it in a group why is there the possibility to pick 'solo - story mode' next to 'group' when you enter ? Second: If it's you personal story why does there always have to be a group? And third: I know exactly no one there so I have to do it alone after all - which means I will never be able to do it at all.

This ongoing total fail is much too much like my real life and I wanted to get a bit of realxing from it not even more bitter frustration.
Why do all things have to be like that always?

That's some rant, Elyris, unfortunately, I don't participate in online MMOs. I wish I understood what you are talking about with the game itself. Hopefully, you can get past the level without dieing. Live and learn, right?

Annoying: People at my workplace who get mad at me for making jokes at their expense, even when they make jokes at my expense all the time.

Annoying: Having to participate on a meeting in a different location and then running through that whole location (always carrying the heavy bag with your stuff) in search for your team, just to find out that none of the room numbers you have are correct...

Sometimes you ask yourself how on earth the usual working world still continues to function with such organization behind it. You have my sympathy. :oh:

Yeah... today I had learned my lesson and just called before to ask where we're meeting - of course it was another room that wasn't on my list :oh:

Spoiler: show
My grandma is in the hospital. She had (growing) issues with her heart since before christmas (and she had for decades already, just not constantly). And of course she didn't wanted to go to the doctor. Last night it got really bad (nearly insanely high blood pressure and heart flicker) so the called the ambulance and now she's in the hospital. She got and catheter, but they didn't find anything. Her blood results were bad (esp. electrolytics) also. So we are waiting for them to find out what is wrong.
I also feel really sorry for my grandpa - he's really not used that she isn't around and her health so bad.

Darn, frickin crafters!!!!!
So here I was, last workday before the Easter break and intended to work from home today, quietly and quit early.
That was until at 7 am some noise started outside, like people carrying and shifting stuff... and then, like 15 minutes later, I was just in the bathroom, the drilling started. Not shortly, but looooooong. Seems my direct neighbour decided that NOW is the perfect time to renovate one of their rooms completely

Finally got Eris to a vet the other day.

Image

The last couple weeks, my adult cat(will be 10 next month), had been having problems with her mouth. Being quite busy, I couldn't find the time to get her the right care. Well, it took four hands, and a tongue depressor to see that she was in worse shape than a bad tooth. She has a tumor alongside her tongue. Needless to say, they had to sedate her and get a sample to determine what kind of tumor it is.

Warning: Not for the faint of heart.

The upside to all this, is the vet I used is Banfield Pet Hospital, who is associated with Petsmart. And all the records can be accessed from all facilities. So, I can make a visit to any Petsmart, that has a Banfield. The other bad thing.....Money......surgery.....recovery.

Course, during our stay here in the motel while my truck was in the shop, Eris, grew a speartip on her tail and horns on her head. Must be the medication. A little while ago, her and Lil Dink were tearing the place up like it was Nascar. Plus, she has been quite demanding of attention.

Thanks ladies.

I received a call from the vet who saw Eris. They received the results. Its not a tumor. Just an infection gone wild. Anyways, the little snot has been feeling better. Not sure if its the antibiotics, or the steroids she's on.She's still having problems with her mouth, but dang, if she hasn't taken up begging for treats like Dink does. She will have a follow-up sometime next week, to see how she is doing. Giving her medications is like trying to hold a piece of meat in front of:

"When did an accident become a tourist attraction"?

Heading west on I70 in Indiana, and darn it if an accident happen in front of me. Well, I'm stuck here waiting while life flight is in the road. And would you believe it! People getting out of their cars and taking pictures.

Good Lord. Someone died up there and these people are taking pictures. :oh:
