Ah, ok :)

They don't get it. If I mess up at work, mess up big time, i replace the mainboard or the disk drive and move on. But in medicine, it is a bit harder :D

And so, my year has started just nicely. Well, not so much. I have just been made redundant, to cut the long story short. Let's see what happens over the coming days and weeks.

My car didn't made it through the TÜV.
This is going to be an expensive one.

Where did it fail? CO2 emissions, brakes, what went wrong?

Sills on both sides rusted through and no replacements ready-to-buy - it's needs to be 'bespoken' handmade stuff - , shock absorber on one side rusted too and of course the exhaust pipe rusted.
Well I got the car used and it's 11 years and over 101 000 km now, so naturally things like this will happen more often now. It's still rather unwelcome.

I'm surprised that your car is so rusty and only has 101,000 km on it after 11 years Elyris. We bought our Toyota Prius hybrid used 4 years ago. Best car I've ever owned. It's a 2008 model (so, 11 model years old), still no trace of rust, and I've logged 362,000 km on it so far. Only had to replace the front wheel bearings this year, and in only 4 years it's actually paid for itself in fuel savings compared to the Nissan Altima I was driving back when you guys came to visit. And because of the regenerative braking system and engine braking, it still has it's original set of brake pads. I still have another year or so left of the brake pads. Don't ever believe anyone who tells you that hybrid vehicles cost more to maintain than regular ones. Oh, and it still has it's original battery too. The oil companies spread lies that you have to replace the battery every 3 years to try to discourage people from buying hybrids.

Ehm - it's the old model of Toyota Aygo (so very lightweight and petite in every aspect). And it's parking outside all year through, the air is really humid (with a hint of salt) and temperatures got from +36°C to -18°C. This takes a toll.

You just described the weather over here too. Hey, yesterday (Oct.9) it was 27°C, feeling like 30°C with the humidity. In october!!
Ah, the Aygo looks very similar to what Toyota calls the Echo over here. I almost bought one of those but then stumbled across a used Toyota Prius. Our car sits outside on the driveway all year too, as our garage is full of Halloween decorations. :hee:

What's "MIL" ?

Also: how come I've grown so old and yet no one else seems to? When I was in school and people disliked me and I disliked them for being immature, limited and more often than not stupid I though that in a few years time the people my age I would meet then would've 'gron up'. Turns out: Their growing up only makes them old teenagers that lost the liitle bit of inner spine they might've had. I am still as alone as I've always been. Also: I don't even know whether I should still be shocked by the fact that when people are mad at me for one reason or the other they always react the same (also how often do others obviously think they could somehow "raise" me - show me through teir actions what they think and try to provoke me finally understanding that I am wrong ... so weird).

In all hoesty - I am just bored. People are boring. They think similar, act similar, live similar, like similar things and behave similar under certain conditions. It feels like I've somehow still have to meet another 'human being', so to speak. Life turned out even more disappointing than I feared it would when I was a child.

MIL: Mother in Law. Schwiegermutter.

People: well, maybe it's the area I'm living in, but - as much as I didn't have friends as a kid and teenager - by now I've met all kinds of different people and enough interesting ones to stand out from the broad mass. And I also found out that some, who look like simple parts of the herd turn out to have much more interesting (or frustrating or happy or whatever) things in their lives going on - they just don't show it on the outside when you meet them at work, in the grocery store or on the street.

Aaahhhh - hmm. In-laws seem to be an issue more often than they are a benefit - ot at least this is what I get from my observations.

It might be where you are but here .... in addition: I am very very very weird. The thing I have in common with other is most likely a pulse. I am not marries and never had a relations ship, I don't have siblings, I don't own a ouse or grew up in one, I don't trave ´l and the bit I travelled was to Denmark with my family, I also don't own a dog and don't do sports. There are simply to topics that I am able to actually talk about with others. Also my views on things often differ significantly from anyone elses (it's like living in the 50's on some day ... of course you marry when you're pregnant, better to marry before you get pregnant; of course you take the mans name then; of course you are toally proud of those facts, of course you and your spouse will cary rings at all times ... and so on´; I swear one of me colleagues - she doesn't want children but got two pugs - is only talking about her pugs, her husband, her pugs, how great her marriage is, her pugs, sometimes about frmer jobs, her pugs and how absolutely great her 'we' is - there might come a day when I just start screaming very loudly).

Having to get up early on a Sunday and then travel by train for the rest of the day (also: this doen't count as work - it's all "free time").

Die Bahn. And constructions sites. Not getting to the train you ought to take in time. And bomb disposals.

Travelling through this country turns out rather adeventurous all too often (and mostly when you can't really afford it).

Die Bahn - oh yeah. They've managed to have 45 minutes delay on a 1 hour 30 minutes trip....

And your co-worker sounds like she'd bring me to scream loudly and do some unpleasant things too. The most interesting part of that rant might be the pug. Pups usually ain't responsible for their owners...
She definitely sounds stuck in the fifties - last century. Ugh!

And she's only one year older than me. This is frightening.

Also: lifts. More precisely: the lifts in this hotel. YOu wait for quite a while and when one finally arrives it is very small (the got three, but only two seem to work at all) - and I mean 1m x 1,5m or so. 4 people standing crammed and it's full - no considering luggage. Adn then it's up, down, up, down and you have to guess when you might arrive at your floor, all the while people trying to get in, even when it's full. Also: people with big suitcases and big bums trying to cram into obviously already full lifts. Seriously - what is wrong with you? Don't you have any sense for security whatsoever? This morning I got more or less stuck in one of the lifts corners because a not overly ... sporty ... american got into the lift with two huge suitcases and his wife. He simply didn't stop going backwards until they were in, humping his backside against my hip, no even caring. They also didn't care about the elderly woman that was in the cabin with me at the time. Good thing I don't easily panik - I know some people who might have gotten into some issues there.
Buiseness trips are not fun at all. *sigh* (In addition: the food isn't very good either.)
