So here is somewhere for us to pitch different story ideas to roleplay in. We had quite a few in the old site, I wonder what mischief we will cause this time!

I was curious when someone was going to make a role play related post.
I'm still on the fence if I want to get back into the role play scene again. If I do, I'm going to take it in moderation this time and probably only have one character and participate in one thread. I just don't have the time to put into multiple threads like I used to.

As for story ideas, if I had to pick a story from one of our old threads that I really liked, it would be the Mass Effect one.

Hmm, well I like that you're coming back! I wasn't personally too engaged in the Mass Effect thread, but I don't see why that should stop you and whoever else wants to jump into that one from going ahead.

I am almost hesitant to restart one of our old threads... it feels wrong to me somehow to begin in media res without the backstory we had going for any of them.

Think about it, some of those were ones we had going for over two years!

That's just my thoughts.

I'm with you there. It might be different if we manage to get the old posts back somehow, but to start right in the middle of things would somehow feel strange.

if you have saved on your local systems last 1 to 2 posts from the desired topics, feel free to continue from there, I can later on merge the existing stuff rom the backup (if we ever get it) with what you will post from now on.

Maybe we could have one old storyline going, and one new one? Mass Effect could be the old one, and we could start something new to get back into the Avatar world.

I vote if we start up a Mass Effect thread or any thread, we start over from scratch. I vaguely remember where the old Mass Effect story left off at. I know iCu was the one who came up with the idea of where to take the story but he vanished after he barely got started on his story plot. So we couldn't really continue since he was the only one who knew what was supposed to happen.

Plus, I'd start up a new character, rather than resurrect one of my old ones. Mainly because, to be honest, I thought my characters were rather cookie cutter-ish, meaning a lot of them had the same qualities and there wasn't a whole lot of variation.

For the next question, if we did start a role play thread, who is all interested in participating in it?

From looking at this topic, I'm guessing right now it's Xacoon, Kiyevanie, Dovakin, and myself.

I completely agree on the Mass Effect subject. After iCu vanished Concho and me tried for a while longer to keep it alive, but that didn't have to do with any main storyline anymore... so, yeah, I'd say whatever we do in that direction should be something new. With new characters too.

Well then, it looks like we have a starting ground! Seth or Kiye, I am not as familiar with Mass Effect, so would one of you like to start things off for us with the game?

I've been thinking about where to start the Mass Effect story at. I didn't want to start too early because that would be before humans discovered the other alien species and became known as another prominent species in the galaxy. But I also don't want to do it too late where the reaper threat has already been dealt with and the galaxy is picking up the pieces.

I was thinking maybe something that ran parallel to the Mass Effect games starting at the first Mass Effect game. We could just imply that the story about Shepard and his/her crew are out doing there thing.

I think that was similar to how we did the original Mass Effect thread.

That's my two cents on the Mass Effect thread.

About the Avatar thread, is their still an interest in that? Where in the timeline will that take place?

For the Avatar thread I'd be good with any way. Pre-human, post human, parallel universe scenario.

I'm thinking Post Human, Pre Mining. It could be a storyline based on the first tribe impacted by the mining.

Sounds good. I don't know if I will be participating in the Avatar thread since I'm kind of leaning more toward the Mass Effect story.

For the mass effect story line - what do you guys think of a small band of freelancers? They could have their own ship, consist of all known species and just go from one mission to the next?

Avatar: Mmmmhm - post-human sounds good, but if we wanna have the first tribe impacted by mining the humans would be nailed down as the "bad guys" from the start.

good point on that... don't want to paint humans as all bad.

What if we did the research scientists first? Maybe they think they're doing geological analysis, and the military steals that research to start their mining. Remember, Avatars were first grown to be miners.

With or without avatars included? When the first ones were made to be miners they could have them...

Yeah, that could work for the Mass Effect thread.

I thought about starting a thread with the setting for which the Mass Effect role play will take place, then just going from there.

Avatar: I would say this is the point where they have decided that avatars are too expensive to make for mining (which is still a hush-hush) so this is the first 'generation' of avatars.

I'll start the thread soon, we can see what feels comfortable once we start.

I like both opening posts/ideas so far... now just to find the time (and brain capacity ) to come up with two characters

Take your time. I'm still working on my character for the Mass Effect thread.

I'm set via the Avatar thread. (maybe more than!) But I think I'm going to wait to see what kind of characters are produced for Mass Effect before making a character (or two) for that one.
